A club with historyOver 100 years ago, Crouch End was alive with dozens of tennis and cricket clubs. Today, Hanley is one of the few still thriving — and we’re proud to carry on that legacy of sport, friendship, and community. Our home is part of the historic Shepherds Cot Trust, land once owned by the Ecclesiastical Commissioners and passed to the Crouch End Playing Fields Ltd in 1928. In 1981, a consortium of local clubs formed the Trust to protect and manage this green oasis for future generations. |
The two largest clubs here are Highgate Tennis & Cricket Club (incorporating Brookside Tennis Club) and North London Cricket Club — and then there’s us: Hanley Tennis Club. Smaller, perhaps, but with plenty of character, vintage charm, and a warm community spirit that has kept us in the game for over a century.
Our story has even been celebrated in the local press - proof that a love of tennis and good company never goes out of style. |
